Reflecting on My Journey: 2024

2024 has been a transformative year for me. I'm grateful to all the negative things that happened. Those challenges led me on a path of self-discovery, self-love, self-acceptance, and self-compassion. I discovered my resilience and learned the importance of nurturing my spirit. With every obstacle, there were lessons learned, and for that, I can't be anything but thankful. Now, as I step into 2025, I’m excited to shift my focus towards building on this foundation I have created.

My Resolutions: Caring for Myself First

One of my biggest resolutions for this coming year is to prioritize taking really good care of myself. I've realized that self-care is not just a luxury; it's a necessity. I know that when I’m healthy and happy, I am able to contribute more positively to the lives of those around me. So, I’m committed to carving out time daily for activities that nurture my mind, body, and soul, whether that be through relaxation, journalling, reaching out to a good friend, or simply enjoying a quiet moment with a cup of tea. My health (both physical and mental) are my top priority and I want to honor that every day.

Breaking the Cycle of People-Pleasing

Another resolution is to stop people-pleasing. I’ve spent so much time trying to make everyone else happy that I often lost sight of what I truly want and need. In 2025, I am setting boundaries and learning to say no without guilt. I understand that being true to myself is not selfish; it’s essential. This resolution will help me focus on my own happiness and encourage others to do the same, fostering more authentic relationships.

Balancing My Commitments

Managing my bandwidth is crucial moving forward. I tend to overcommit because I want to be there for everyone, but that has left me feeling drained. I'm a prolific ideator and I tend to want to pursue all of my ideas! LOL! A lot of my overwhelm is self-caused. So, one of my goals is to only take on what I can handle. This means evaluating my existing commitments and deciding which ones truly align with my priorities in life.

Strengthening Connections

Additionally, I want to strengthen my connections with friends and loved ones. This involves not just making plans, but also being intentional about reaching out, checking in, and nurturing my relationships. I want to open up more and let others in without fear of rejection or being hurt. This is a bit scary, but I believe it will be worth it if I open up to the right people.

As I look towards 2025, I am filled with hope and determination. These new resolutions set the stage for a year of further growth where self-care, honesty, and connection take precedence. Much like my journey through 2024, I expect this year will be another transformative chapter filled with lessons and growth. Here’s to a year of caring for myself, minimizing the urge to please others at my own expense, managing my energy, and deepening the bonds that enrich my life and fill my cup. Happy New Year!
